John – Aortic Valve Replacement Surgery – 03/29/18
John had surgery 03/29/18 – a successful operation and quick recovery. That man won’t be kept down!
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, medical staff, and everyone else at Truman Medical Center in Columbia, Mo. This very serious procedure was performed with professionalism, skill, and compassion.
As his family, we were met with concern, understanding, and patience. Everything was explained and all questions were answered (even ones we didn’t know to ask). In spite of the circumstances (this surgery was a pretty big deal), they helped us feel at ease. They handled it all in a way that built our confidence in them. He was getting excellent care and knew God was watching over him. We are grateful for such a positive experience in spite of the worry and concern we were feeling.
And from John, himself:
My aortic valve was replaced last Thursday and I just got home from the hospital today (Monday). The cardio surgeon used a procedure called TARV that eliminates the need to open my chest. A small slit is cut in the groin area on each side and the new valve is inserted through the blood vessel. The surgeon can see the new valve being in the heart via an ultrasonic camera.
The day following the surgery I was up and walking, but had some chills, more needles, x-rays, chest x-rays, pills to take, etc. Day two after surgery I felt a lot better, asking for ice chips, water etc. and was feeling a lot better Since coming home, I have ZERO pain from the surgery and I don’t take any pain meds. I thank the Lord for a successful surgery and for the very good care I received at the Truman Medical Center in Columbia, MO
JOHN
The purple toenails and blue lips are gone. Time has passed now, and John has been back to the doctor for his post-op checkup and is doing very well. He has been released, which means the garden WILL get planted this year (it’s been too cold up to now, anyway), and the onery-ness will continue. Thank you to all his friends and family for your prayers and support.
And you can still look forward to tomatoes and green beans coming soon…
Kim
